Whisker + Wren was born from a deep love for animals, travel, and the simple joy of feeling at home — no matter where life takes us. What started as a way to help friends and families care for their pets while away has grown into a trusted network built on compassion, reliability, and connection.
We are Anela Tayan and Jared Leckey — a professional, nomadic pet and house-sitting couple who’ve built a life around caring for others’ homes and animals. With years of experience living on farms and embracing van life, we’ve learned to adapt to every environment and truly live like locals wherever we go.
Our journey has connected us deeply with people, places, and the rhythm of everyday life — from quiet rural homesteads to lively city neighborhoods. We’ve learned that the essence of home isn’t about where you are, but how you love and care for what’s around you.
Over the years, we’ve had the honor of caring for 400+ pets across 130 homes in six states, each experience adding to the tapestry of who we are and how we serve. From cozy farmhouses and mountain cabins to urban apartments and desert neighborhoods, we’ve found beauty in every setting. Both of us come from rural roots with a touch of city life, giving us a balance of down-to-earth care and adaptable professionalism wherever we go.
We’ve cared for everything from snuggly lapdogs and curious cats to chatty birds and the occasional backyard crew of chickens and tortoises. Every home, every animal, and every story has shaped who we are today.
Our approach is simple: care for your home and pets as if they were our own. We believe in open communication, consistency, and forming genuine bonds with every animal we meet. Whether we’re staying overnight or dropping in for walks and feedings, our goal remains the same — to give you peace of mind and your pets comfort and joy while you’re away.
At the heart of Whisker + Wren is our faith and our desire to serve. We believe it’s important to keep moving, evolving, and learning how to care for others in the way our Heavenly Father would see fit. Taking care of our neighbors — both human and furry — brings us great joy and draws us closer to Him and His creations.
